Donald Trump eventually acquired the property in 1985 for $5 million.

The president-to-be began complaining about Mar-a-Lago’s upkeep, which he said was about $3 million a year.
Today, Mar-a-Lago is owned by a corporation called the Mar-a-Lago Club, Inc. Those seven-day stays also cannot be consecutive.
