Ken Jenningshas big shoes to fill.
In the process, he alsostruck up a friendshipwith former show host Alex Trebek.
It’s a big opportunity for theJeopardy!champion but also a daunting one.
“I understand better than anybody that these are very big shoes to fill,” he toldPeople.
“I expect people to be a little discontented when they see me.
I’m right there with them.
The only thing I can do is to try doing the job the best I can.”
He added, “It’s extremely nerve-wracking.
I grew up watching Alex, and he did that job perfectly.

You know, the host is not the star ofJeopardy!”
Trebek reminded him that the real stars of the show are its players.
Jennings' run as the guest host ofJeopardy!will begin on January 11.
