Several weeks later, Lovato took to Instagram to update her fans and share her progress.
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction.
What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time.”
“I recorded the vocals for it four days before [the overdose].”
No wonder it’s such a searing and heartbreaking piece.
“The lyrics took on a totally different meaning,” she continued.
“At the time when I was recording it…
I almost listen back and hear these lyrics as a cry for help.”
Fortunately Lovato was able to get the help she so desperately wanted and needed.
It’s a good question.
“It was about a week after I had been in the hospital.”
“I was finally like awake,” she continued.
“I am human, so be easy on me.
And I’m so tired of pretending like I’m not human.”
She added that she just can’t do that anymore.
And while Lovato acknowledged that she has overcome incredible obstacles, she also stayed humble in classic Lovato fashion.
“I genuinely see a fighter,” she continued.
“I feel really excited and I’m ready,” she gushed in an interview withApple Music.
“I just want to go up there and tell my story,” she continued.

Fortunately the audience was kind and responded with gentle applause and support.

To say Lovato knocked it out of the park would be an understatement!
