One theory is that she has crossed over to another life and is glimpsing heaven.
Philippa Soo, whooriginated the role of Elizaand portrays her in the recording, has her own theory.

Is she seeing Alexander?
Is she seeing God?
What is it?'”
“And it’s kind of all of those things.
He continued, “I think it’s different for each [actress who plays] Eliza.
I’ve had different conversations.
It’s heart-stopping isn’t it?
I do think that it traverses time in some way.
I think those are all valid and all fair.
I do think she is seeing across a span of time in that moment.”
Director Thomas Kail, who staged the production, also declined to give a straight answer in the interview.
“I feel like that is actually between Eliza and Eliza,” he said.
