Hudson’s career took off soon after she dedicated herself to it.

The role that helped her do just that almost didn’t happen, however.

Director Cameron Crowe did not even envision Hudson in the role of Penny Lane originally.

“I found Penny Lane’s character to be such an amazing female role,” Hudson toldE!

It was very easy for me to go different places."

In real life, she also found love.

She met Chris Robinson, frontman forThe Black Crowes, at a party in May of 2000.

Days later, the then-21-year-old actress moved in with the 34-year-old rocker.

In January 2004, the couple welcomed their son, Ryder.

By 2007, however, they were divorced.

It was by no means an ugly breakup.

“I just had no question about him, and I still don’t.

Whoever he ends up with, whoever I end up with, we’ll always be together.”

“When you’re doing it, you’re not thinking about anything like that … “There’s a couple of movies that are fun to watch with the kids,” she toldElle.

“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder,” she shared.

She also opened up about their first date.

No moves were made on this first date.

In fact, it took months for him to make a first move!

Kate Hudson’s hectic life has been made manageable because she embraces change.

To say Hudson’s life is busy is an understatement.

“I change my routine.

I change my look.

I change my mind,” she toldSelf.

She also tries to keep everything in perspective, never wanting to take herself too seriously.

“I think finding the balance really is more about emotional balance, isn’t it?”

“Sometimes stress can be good stress.

The whole point is that life doesn’t ever get easy.

And so you have to learn how to enjoy it.”

When it comes to what’s next, look out for Kate’s return to rom-coms.

That said, it’ll be on her own terms.

“I will definitely do rom-coms again,” she toldWomen’s Health.

She also plans to get in the director’s chair.

“I will act when I want, but I want to tell stories,” she says.
